The Novaks
Alan and Megan started dating back in '13 and were married in '21
Just Like Home Pet Sitting is Megan's business, but Alan helps out when he is home from work. Pet sitting is Megan's full time job.
When they are not pet sitting they enjoy traveling, camping, motorcycle rides and enjoying the life out West has provided.
Carson
Alan & Megan adopted Carson in '17 from the Nevada Humane Society. He was found in Carson City as a stray. Nobody claimed him and was eventually put up for adoption. We had Carson's DNA tested and he is a beautiful mix of Chow Chow, Border Collie, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, and American Eskimo Dog.
Odette
Odie was adopted by Alan and Megan in '23 from Res-Que. We are planning on getting her DNA tested to see what her breeds are, but so far we know she is Labrador Retriever, Doberman, and Rottweiler. Odie was surrendered at no fault of her own. Her previous family was moving and could no longer care for her. Odie has been an amazing addition to our family. Don't let her looks scare you! She thinks she is a lap dog and is the dopiest love in our home.
Roxy
Megan adopted Roxy back in '10 when she lived in Michigan. Roxy is a miniature pinscher weighing about 4 lbs. She ended up being the runt of her litter, but don't let that fool you! She runs this house. Roxy's favorite thing in the whole world is sitting on the front porch. We're going to pretend that it's her mom though.
Sadie
Sadie, our Chihuahua, was adopted in '18 from Res-Que. She originally came to us as a foster and we just could not imagine life without this sweet old lady. Sadie was brought to Res-Que from a family in California. Sadie was their mothers dog and she was moving into an assisted living home. We are so thankful to have Sadie. She has claimed the back of our couch, where she spends most of her days napping and watching out the window for the next Amazon delivery.
Alan
Alan is the supportive husband behind Just Like Home Pet Sitting.
Alan is a US Special Operations veteran and also grew up in West Michigan before enlisting in the Air Force.
Now he enjoys training people, like you and I, about security and gun safety.
Megan
Megan, founder of Just Like Home Pet Sitting, was born and raised in West Michigan and spent many days swimming in Lake Michigan. She started pet sitting for neighbors and family back in the early 2000's and has always had a huge heart for animals.
Megan started dental assisting in '10, but would pet sit on weekends. In the summer of '22 she started pet sitting full time from home. She does occasional sub for dental offices in the Tahoe, Carson City, and Reno area, but her passion and love for pet sitting takes priority.
Megan also spends her time by giving back to the community by volunteering as a dog foster with Res-Que and she volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Northern Nevada. Being a dog foster and a Big gives Megan joy, love, and happiness. She hopes her stories encourage others to get involved in their community.
